Meeting with MP Karen McCrimmon – Parliamentary Secretary to Minister Garneau.

On 23 February USC arranged a meeting with MP McCrimmon and several UAS companies in her riding. RME Geomatics hosted the afternoon session and provided an overview of UAS applications with a focus on LIDAR technology. NovaAerial showcased their Procyon UAS, AVSS presented their work on safety systems, Kongsberg Geospatial described their UAS situational awareness technologies, Periculum Labs discussed decision making tools and risk management, with Version2 rounding out the day presenting their UAV counterdetection applications. A great event, which provided MP McCrimmon with a keen understanding of the breadth of innovation in the UAS sector, and with some takeaways for the Minister.

Supercluster Selections.

Unfortunately, neither the MOST21 or Smart Agri-Food superclusters, which USC had supported for UAS projects were selected by the federal government. However, USC is engaged in the process of seeking opportunities with the selected superclusters. Should any companies have projects to propose which would benefit from USC support please write to Glenn Martin, our Executive Director at [email protected]. cc: [email protected]
