CUI is Pleased to Announce Continued UAS Training

Canadian Unmanned Inc. (CUI) formally stood up on 1 April 2015 in a seamless transfer from the Canadian Centre for Unmanned Vehicle Systems CCUVS division of training. The CCUVS has relocated to Foremost Alberta to focus on serving the Canadian UAS industry by providing over 700 sqnm of Restricted Airspace for the development of BVLOS testing and development, and has created a separate arm of training expertise through CUI.

Sterling Cripps, the former Chief Operating Officer of CCUVS created CUI to continue the trusted UAS training service to all Canadians that has been offered over the past 6 years. Sterling has personally delivered UAS training to over 800 students including over 250 police and first responders from 8 separate departments across Canada. Sterling brings over 30 years of aviation experience as a current Group 1 Commercial Pilot, and has been piloting and demonstrating small UAS for the past 8 years. He has also been an active industry member in the Transport Canada UAS working groups since 2008. CUI is also under contract with Airbus Space and Defence Gmbl, to provide UAS Launcher support for Tactical Direct Target Drone Operations around the globe.

The CUI 1.5 day UAS training course delivers the Knowledge Requirements laid out by Transport Canada for VLOS < 25kg and is supported by Canada’s first UAS training manual “Unmanned” published by Aviation Publishers in Ottawa. CUI specializes in catering to customers demands and is capable of training in remote or isolated areas. Students are also examined to meet the requirements for an Industry Canada Restricted Operator Certificate Air ROC-(A) radio license.
