UC18 Vancouver Media Accreditation

USC-STC  is welcoming applications from accredited journalists to attend #UC18VANCOUVER from October 30 – November 1, taking place at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in downtown Vancouver, BC.

This is Canada’s premiere conference for the growing field of unmanned systems, including ground and water-based autonomous vehicles, as well as traditional UAVs or “drones” (which are now officially known in Canadian legislation as Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems, or RPAS).

Highlights include:

  • The announcement of new regulations from the Transport Canada-Industry Task Force for both recreational and commercial drone operators.
  • Presentations and panels on:
    • Uber’s planned aerial service – Uber ElevateUnmanned Traffic Management (UTM): How to ensure manned and unmanned aircraft can safely share airspace
    • The growing role of drones in industrial applications, search and rescue, disaster scenarios (including a recent tornado in Ontario) and even coastal and wildlife monitoring
    • A special emphasis on the growing potential for drones in the Canadian Arctic, including both the opportunities – along with potential challenges. (You can download the complete agenda for each day here.)

Please note: All media are welcome for the opening news event October 30 @ 0800 PDT. Complete details of that event can be found here.

However, only a limited number of media passes will be available for the entire conference, with preference for established news organizations or individuals with recent bylines in this field and concrete assignments.
