Last years competition attracted 18 teams from across Canada who designed and flew sophisticated UAS. This years wildlife monitoring scenario will require the teams to census and locate nests of three different types of geese in the remote Canadian wilderness. In addition, nesting samples are required to test for pesticides in the environment by retrieving eggs from the nests of the birds under study. Once again the Competition Committee has developed the conditions to promote and develop Canadian expertise and experience in unmanned systems technologies at the university and college levels.
