USC Releases Small RPAS BVLOS Best Practices Document to Members

The Small RPAS BVLOS Best Practices is a best practices document for the operation of unmanned aircraft beyond visual line of sight that was developed by Unmanned Systems Canada for it’s membership and to advance BVLOS possibilities in Canada.

USC BVLOS Best Practices Document
This version (1.1), is intended for discussion at the Unmanned Canada 2016 Conference. Any individual registering for the conference as a delegate is entitled to an individual Unmanned Systems Canada membership, valid for one year. Those with a pre-existing membership will have their membership extended for 12 months.

This document presents recommended practices and guidelines for established Small UAS operators who wish to extend their operations from VLOS to BVLOS. These guidelines are based on the Phase 2 BVLOS recommendations described above.

It is recommended that any application for BVLOS operations of a Small RPAS in Canada at a minimum address the underlying concepts of all the guidelines provided herein (including by reference those of Staff Instruction 623-001).
