Our 16th annual conference is now over – and what a terrific gathering it was!
We’ve had very positive feedback from USC-STC members about the quality of the technical presentations, the variety and excellence of the exhibits on the floor and – as usual – the outstanding networking that takes place at this event every single year.
While there’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes by USC-STC volunteer organizers, it’s the sponsors, exhibitors, presenters and attendees who truly make or break a conference. And this year, once again, we’re proud to have collectively produced Canada’s premier industry conference in the unmanned space.
Sponsor and partner contributions enable us to host world-class events that connect manufacturers, software developers, service providers, and researchers with policy-makers and investors in our growing ecosystem. All financial and in-kind support helps USC-STC to host a national conference that improves collaboration, shares best practices and research, and moves forward policy discussions to create a predictable, safe framework that is critical to nurturing growth and attracting investment. Their support helps us showcase Canadian experts and innovators from across the aerial, ground and marine remotely piloted, robotics and automated vehicle sectors.
Before we go any further, we’d like to give a very heartfelt “Thank You” to our sponsors. Their generous support is deeply appreciated, and made a huge difference to the overall conference. In particular, we’d like to note Platinum Sponsor LOOKNorth Centre for Commercialization and Research, along with Silver Sponsors DroneCourse.com and Aerovision Canada. Rounding out the premier categories were Bronze Sponsors Calgary Economic Development, and THALES.
Thanks are also due to UC18’s Premier Sponsors (it’s a long but worthwhile list): Aerium Analytics, AlteX Academy, Canadian Science Publishing, CCC (Canadian Commercial Corporation), CARIC (Consortium for Aerospace Research and Innovation in Canada), Drone Delivery Canada, L3 MAS, Mannarino Systems and Software Inc., NAV CANADA, The National Research Council (NRC), Scorpion Technologies, The Sky Guys, and the Unmanned Systems Canada STEM Group.
Finally, merci beaucoups to our Partner Sponsors: AIRMAP, Alexander Holburn, eh&a, and
“This year’s annual gathering of the unmanned systems community was a major milestone in setting the roadmap for 2019,” says USC-STC Chair Mark Aruja.
“Long-awaited regulations are about to come into effect for the drone industry which will reduce regulatory uncertainty and send positive signals to the investor community.”
Aruja also noted both how dynamic and widespread the unmanned sector has become
“With a focus on our oceans, the Arctic and remote communities, unmanned systems above, on and below the surface are being rapidly adopted to solve our most challenging problems. The networking of thought leaders in our industry at the conference will undoubtedly lead to
Indeed, there was a tremendous sense of optimism at #UC18VANCOUVER – and with good reason.
“Our Conference Committee chose this year’s theme “Innovating Canada by Air, Land, and Sea’ for our 16th Annual USC-STC Conference and Trade Show,” says board member Kristin Kozuback.
“I’m thrilled that so many presenters, exhibitors, and delegates shared new technologies, best practices
The sheer scale, breadth and growth of the unmanned world has never been more apparent.
“The USC Conference demonstrated the sector is moving into a new phase: one of collaboration with the regulators, learning from customers, being challenged by competitors and – and continuous evolvement to the highest professional standards,” says Glenn Martin, USC-STC Executive Director.
“Can’t wait until next year’s conference to see how so many innovative programs and partnerships we just heard about develop.”
UAVs aren’t the only things that fly: So does time. It won’t be long before advance preparations are underway for #UC19OTTAWA. News on sponsorship, booking exhibit space – and more – coming soon.
And a final quick ps… We are working on getting all of the presentations available via your mobile EventConnect app, where they’ll be available for one year.
See you in Ottawa!
