Transport Canada to conduct consultations with UAS Sector

On July 9th, Unmanned Systems Canada learned of Transport Canada’s intention to host round table discussions on the UAV NPA over the next three weeks.  Sessions will be held in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal and Moncton.  Due to limited space, the events will be by invitation only, and these invitations will be sent out to “active and engaged members of the aviation or unmanned air vehicle communities”. We have been told that the invitees will be selected, in part, from the list of companies currently active in the SFOC process in the various regions.

These events will focus on the recently published Notice of Proposed Amendments that outline Transport Canada’s risk-based approach and operational categories aimed to safely integrate UAVs into Canadian airspace.

The roundtable discussions are designed to provide participants with an opportunity to get a briefing on the proposed changes and provide direct feedback or ask questions to TC technical and policy experts.

Unmanned Systems Canada is working hard to ensure that the broadest spectrum of our industry is invited to these events and/or have other ways to interact with TC.  In addition, we would like to take this opportunity to remind you that TC is accepting written submissions regarding the NPA until August 28, 2015.
