FAA Publishes Small UAS Rules

Unmanned Systems Canada wishes to congratulate the FAA and their stakeholders on the promulgation today of their Small UAS rules. These new rules are not dissimilar to those which have been in place in Canada for the past several years. Undoubtedly today’s announcement will generate significant new opportunities for our industries and a new source of economic growth. The Canadian experience has led to the creation of 1000 new businesses within the past few years, indicative of the growth that might be expected in the United States. With closer alignment of our respective rules, we can anticipate further harmonization through the Canada/US Regulatory Cooperation Council to the benefit of investors, manufacturers, operators and ultimately our customers. With these steps, the stage is set for the further development of technologies and procedures to enable Beyond Visual Line of Sight operations to be proven promoting further innovation and business opportunities.
